FSBK— Mauludin, an English Literature Student (Sasing) at Universitas Ahmad Dahlan Yogyakarta (UAD), passed the National University Debating Championship (NUDC) on July 1st, 2021.
Reporting from Pusatprestasinasional.kemdikbud.go.id, NUDC is one competition program in forming talented students in terms of language, decisions, and logical analysis.
Mauludin explained that this event was his target, because the selection was very hard, so it was possible that it could only be done once during the collage time.
“Alhamdulillah, to passing the NUDC at the Kopertis level is one of our targets. Because the selection is quite long (community level selection> Univ level> file selection for Kopertis level> debate selection for Kopertis level) and it is possible that during college you can only participate once,” he said.
In the future, Mauludin targets NUDC at the national level. Because, by winning the national level, Mauludin opened the way to participate in the World University Debating Championship (WUDC).
“Of course there are always targets going forward, and one of the biggest ones can win the NUDC at the national level, and can even become a delegate to take part in the World University Debating Championship (WUDC),” he said.
Furthermore, Mauludin said, the return contribution to the university and the community, as well as fostering students’ critical thinking was his motivation to participate and pass this event.
“There are two motivations. First, it can contribute back to the progress of the university and the community. Second, we want to proliferate critical thinking among students on issues and problems around us,” he added.
In the process, Mauludin thinks, the biggest failure is failing to try.
“Because in my opinion, the biggest failure is failing to try. It doesn’t have to be good right away, that’s okay. It’s also called learning. So let’s get started,” he said.
